“MidAmerica Center for Public Health Practice is helping our agency realize its vision and has been an invaluable resource to our agency. Through the variety of training and programs provided by the MidAmerica Public Health Training Center, individual, organizational, and community capacity has increased. Summer institute trainings provided the basic and advanced training on relevant and current public health topics; staff participation in MARPHLI resulted in the development of a new strategic and more sustainable direction for our county-wide emergency preparedness and response systems; and most recently, training to be received from our agency’s participation in Project Best Practice will help us to build the community engagement skills needed to realize our vision that suburban Cook County will have the capacity to promote healthy living. The training center helps our agency move from doing ‘good’ work, to doing ‘great’ work!”
– Christina Welter, Deputy Director, Cook County Department of Public Health
“The training center is an excellent example of linking the expertise of academia with public health practice. Through our experience with the Project Best Practice program, a functional partnership was forged between Training Center, IDPH Training and Resource Center, and our local health department. The array of services offered by the Training Center during the past year has strengthened our capacity for strategic training at the community level. ”
